10:00-11:45   Morning Keynote - Tom Peters & Panel Discussion

                        A Fish-Eyed View of eBooks and eReading

Tom Peters currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Strategic Technology Initiatives at Milner Library at Illinois State University in Normal.  Prior to that, Tom was the CEO of TAP Information Services, a company he founded in 2003 to help organizations innovate.  Tom also has worked at the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC, the academic consortium of the Big Ten universities and the University of Chicago), Western Illinois University in Macomb, Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Minnesota State University at Mankato, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City. 
 
Tom did his undergraduate work at Grinnell College, where he majored in English and philosophy.  He earned his library science degree at the University of Iowa.  His second master’s degree (in English) was completed at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.  His library experience includes reference service, library instruction, collection management, information technology, and administration. 
 
His current interests include the adoption and diffusion of information technologies in general, eReading on portable devices, online continuing education opportunities, and mobile library initiatives.

1:00-1:45   Bruce Markusen
                          Ghosts of Cooperstown

Bruce Markusen is the author of eight books, including the award-winning A Baseball Dynasty: Charlie Finley’s Swingin’ A’s, the recipient of the Seymour Medal from the Society for American Baseball Research. He has also written The Team That Changed Baseball: Roberto Clemente and the 1971 Pittsburgh Pirates, The Orlando Cepeda Story, Ted Williams: A Biography, and one book in the genre of horror, Haunted House of the Vampire.

He is the owner and operator of Cooperstown Candlelight Ghost Tours, which has been offering tours since 2004.

Bruce also works as a museum teacher at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Farmers’ Museum, and the Fenimore Art Museum, all located in Cooperstown, NY.

Bruce, his wife Sue, and their daughter Madeline reside in Cooperstown.
