PURPOSE

The purpose of this Committee is to provide a systematic approach to the education and training needs of the members of the South Central Regional Library Council.  This approach includes needs assessment, activities to meet those needs, and evaluation and follow-up to determine effectiveness of the activities.  In addition, the Committee will act as a clearinghouse for all education and training activities of the Council and provide advice and guidance regarding graduate library education programs.

 

ROLE

  • Recommend policies to the Board of Trustees for the education and training program of SCRLC
  • Survey needs for education and training programs
  • Review short- and long-term goals for regional continuing education.
  • Consider income generation in program planning.
  • Plan and evaluate education and training programs.
  • Publicize education and training activities.

 

GOALS 2013

  1. Offer a wide variety and number of educational activities.
  2. Assess CE activities; develop annual CE plan.
  3. Monitor innovative CE options and opportunities for possible implementation; e.g. MOOC; lynda.com.
  4. Update professional development LibGuide.
  5. Collaborate with other organizations in the provision of CE.
