Special Interest Groups

SCRLC Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are informal groups that come together around a common interest, issue, or challenge. In the past, SIGs have provided networking and educational opportunities for web masters, corporate librarians, database users, and other gatherings (both large and small).

SIGs may be as simple as a listserv for posting messages, or can include virtual or face-to-face meetings and workshops. They can exist for a brief period (to support a political action) or serve their members over many years of activities.

Current Special Interest Groups include Library Assistants SIG to provide professional education and networking opportunities for the region’s library assistants (i.e. technicians, staff, clerks, etc.) and other library workers and Nursing School Library SIG, which fosters communication among nursing school support librarians and other interested health professionals in the SCRLC region.

If you have an idea or topic for creating a SIG, please email Nora Hardy.
