Podcasts are becoming an increasingly popular way to deliver information on the Internet, but the world of audio can seem alien to those most used to working with written media.

These two sessions will provide an introduction to making good audio productions for the Internet. They are designed to complement each other, but will also stand alone, so can be booked individually. Both sessions are suitable for those with no previous knowledge of audio production.

February 12, 2010 Session one - Before You Record - covers the pre-production process: planning and writing your podcast, speaking effectively to engage your listener, choosing a microphone, how to speak into it to get the best sound and choosing a location for recording. Much of the information in this session will also be of use to people who regularly speak using microphones in other contexts, such as at conferences and on radio and television.

February 26, 2010 Session two
- Recording and Beyond - covers the production process: how to successfully record your audio, the software and hardware involved, what file formats to use, how to mix and edit your podcasts to maximum effect, and what to do with them once they're recorded.

Presenter Richard Carter, MagnaCarta Media,  lives and works in London, England. He works as a sound engineer in many contexts, from radio and TV productions to live sound in theaters and music venues. He has also presented Internet radio programs and provided voices for computer games and web multimedia content.
