Print Education & Training Committee

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Education and Training Committee is to provide a systematic approach to the education and training needs of the members of the South Central Regional Library Council.  This approach includes needs assessment, activities to meet those needs, and evaluation and follow-up to determine effectiveness of the activities.  In addition, the Committee will act as a clearinghouse for all education and training activities of the Council and provide advice and guidance regarding graduate library education programs.

 

ROLE

  • Recommend policies to the Board of Trustees for the education and training program of SCRLC
  • Survey needs for education and training programs
  • Review short- and long-term goals for regional continuing education.
  • Consider income generation in program planning.
  • Plan and evaluate education and training programs.
  • Publicize education and training activities.

 

GOALS 2009

  1. Investigate, as possible, workshop topics such as podcasting, managing website responsibilities, RFID, technology security issues, Second Life, assessment, leadership, and managing staff in a changing environment.
  2. Investigate educational delivery options (such as remote classrooms and computer-based training) for their impact on SCRLC’s audience.
  3. Explore opportunities and topics for SCRLC’s training events.
  4. Educate SCRLC members about delivery options for their patrons.
  5. Conduct an online survey of E&T program participants, members and non-participants to establish their current E&T needs, issues,and  preferences for topics, delivery options, and logistics.
  6. Explore options for creating a region-wide 2.0 technology webinar series.
  7. Create the Education & Training Plan for 2008-2011.
