SUNY Delhi

Reference and Instructional Librarian 

 

This is a full-time, tenure-track appointment.

Primary responsibilities: providing reference service and instruction in a variety of environments (in person, online and in the classroom), managing assigned subject areas of the library collection, and participating in the development and marketing of the library’s online resources. In addition, the successful candidate will collaborate with faculty to integrate library information resources into student learning, and perform assessment of instruction, collections and services. All library staff participate in professional scholarly and service activities, serve on campus committees, and contribute to library and staff planning. Limited evening and weekend hours required during the academic year.

Tompkins Cortland Community College

Adjunct Evening Reference Librarian

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Spring 2012 Semester, Temporary, Part-Time, .42 FTE

This individual will work up to 16 hours per week primarily providing evening library reference services in the TC3 Library. Specific responsibilities include: providing reference and circulation services assistance; carrying out special projects in the areas of library resource development and access; making recommendations for improving information services to students and staff at TC3. Qualified candidates with systems, cataloging, or web development experience/aptitude may have additional projects as assigned.


Qualifications: Master of Library Science/Information Studies from American Library Association accredited program, completed or pending completion this year. Knowledge of and experience with a variety of print, electronic and internet/WWW-based information resources. Proficiency in computer applications (Windows). Ability to work with staff and students of widely diverse backgrounds.

 

Desired qualifications: Previous work in an academic library/learning resources center; experience in providing reference services; systems, cataloging, or web development skills, strong customer service orientation; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Engineering Librarian
 
The Engineering Librarian assesses, develops and manages the engineering collections; serves as liaison with the Watson Engineering School faculty and students; provides reference and instructional services; and represents the Libraries to appropriate campus departments. Visual Arts Librarian
 
The Visual Arts Librarian develops and manages the print and digital visual arts collections of the Binghamton University Libraries in support of teaching and research in Art History and Art, as well as students utilizing resources in these areas; provides reference and instructional services; and represents the Libraries to appropriate campus departments. Required qualifications include an MLS and recent experience in the visual arts disciplines.

SUNY Oswego

Reference/Instruction Librarian (Six-month Temporary Position)
 
Penfield Library at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a six-month temporary Librarian position.  We seek an energetic, knowledgeable, service-oriented librarian to provide reference assistance, instruct classes in information literacy skills, and help to promote students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community. 
 
Review Date:  Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
 
Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
 
Date of Appointment:  Anticipated February 5, 2012.
 
Description of Responsibilities:  Provide reference service 10-12 hours per week, including chat and text reference.  Teach information literacy classes for subject specialized and general instruction.  Develop relevant teaching aids.  Perform other duties as agreed upon, depending on librarian skills and interests and needs of the library.  Some evening and weekend reference work required.
 
Required Qualifications: MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited program; strong public service orientation; working knowledge of a wide variety of electronic databases and technology applications; excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Availability to begin work quickly. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in reference service (including electronic) and instruction, ideally in an academic library setting; specialized subject knowledge of Education or Psychology; ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast paced environment.
