Rethinking Resource Sharing

The Rethinking Resource Sharing Initiative is an ad hoc group that advocates for a revolution in the way libraries conduct resource sharing. The group has written a Manifesto for Resource Sharing, which outlines a set of principles that support more open resource sharing.

IDS (Information Delivery Services)

http://idsproject.org/

The IDS Project is a mutually supportive resource-sharing cooperative within New York State whose members include public and private academic libraries, the New York Public Library, and the New York State Library (view a list of current members). The Project is based on a strong sense of community among its members and a unified collection perspective. The major goal of the Project is to continually implement and objectively evaluate innovative resource-sharing strategies, policies and procedures that will optimize mutual access to the information resources of all IDS Project libraries. Member libraries sign annual contracts committing to a common set of performance standards. There are no initial start-up fees or annual maintenance fees.

To continue the conversations, outcomes of the summit included:  There are two Working Groups, Discovery (http://nyrss.wetpaint.com/page/Discovery+Working+Group) and Delivery (http://nyrss.wetpaint.com/page/Delivery+Working+Group) .
